The LST-5B was part of a family of lightwieght UHF only LOS/SATCOM radios.
This version was the second generation that could operate on both wideband and
narrow band channels. It was NOT capable of DAMA operation. It did have selective calling
and could support data transmission with a built-in modem up to 2400 bps.

It was not a bad radio. It is unfortunate that Motorola deleted the VHF-AM
feature from this series.

This radio is generally available for about USD 1200 to 2,000 depending on condition. It
does have very limited use so be careful. You may wish to save your money for a LST-5D.
